Homework - Spring Term 2022

Homework - Friday 28th January 2022

We are having a drive on presentation this half term - ensuring that dates and titles are copied neatly and correctly from the board and underlined with a ruler. We are also encouraging all children in class to use cursive (joined) handwriting in all of their books. We teach a discrete handwriting lesson twice a week, demonstrating the letter joins required with time to practice in their handwriting books and encouragement to then use this in any writing in school.

For this week's homework I am sending home a handwriting sheet of letters recently practiced. There are two copies so that your child can have lots of practice. Please remind your child to start on the line, leading into the letter, forming it correctly and leading out of the letter in preparation for joining it to another letter.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Homework - Friday 21st January 2022

We have been looking at time in maths for the last couple of weeks. The children have made a clock which they will be bringing home tonight. Please use it to practice o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to, this will support the work that we have been doing in class. Ask your child to explain which is the hour hand and which is the minute hand and how they know this.

Homework - Week 1 - Friday 7th January 2022

This week, we have been looking at compound words. Ask your child to explain what a compound word is to check their understanding.

Board game - this practices reading compound words. All of the instructions are on the sheet that is coming home tonight, along with the board to play on. You will just need a counter per player and a dice.

Extend the game by asking your child which two words have been joined together to make the compound word.
