Sgt Nelany came to see us on Wednesday 20th September to introduce a new club that will be running here at school. The very first of it's kind; The Junior Cadet Club. This club is open to all children in school who show an interest although we are anticipating very high numbers and so the children will be fairly chosen during assembly in the coming weeks. Sgt Nelany has promised to come and visit all the classes within school to help to understand the role of a Police Officer, to talk about what it means to be a good citizen and to have a go with some of the tools that she carries with her. We look forward to this club starting.
Wow! What an absolutely spectacular World Book Day we had this year. In true SMG style, the children and staff really went to town to make this a very special day. World Book Day, a day where a love of books and stories is celebrated, takes place in over 100 countries all over the world. In our school we are passionate about reading and know that reading opens the doors to different opportunities; it also feeds our imagination for our own stories; it increases our vocabulary and most importantly it gives us great pleasure. This year we had our very own storytelling session and each class performed a different story for the school. We had children dressed as rats, dinosaurs, superheroes, surfers, lions and even aliens, who were wearing very bright, tight underpants!
